The first time I heard Bob Dye and the Usual Suspects latest production 4.17, I couldn’t stop listening to it. What a comfortable  collection of good music. Although slightly reminiscent of Bob Dylan meets Tom Petty, Bob Dye’s vocals and heartfelt lyrics are full of honest wit. Backed up by the birthday boy himself, Jim Krawczyk on bass, Matt Smith on electric guitar & Chris Powers on drums, Bob admits that disc’s making was at best a fluke.

I wrote some songs and drove 400 miles to Matt Smith’s studio in bucolic Eden NY. Fortunately, Matt’s a hell of a guitar player, unlike myself. We found a very hung over Chris Powers who had drummed with us in the 80′s and hadn’t been seen since.

We started playing at noon on a Saturday and at 3 AM when the cigarette smoke cleared, we were shocked to discover we had just made an album.

Look for the  full interview with Bob and some more great music on RadioComa.  But don’t take my word for it, take a listen for yourself.
